Where to Eat & Drink in Antigua
At the top end, Caribbean dining stands toe to toe with anything on offer in major North American or European cities, not least because a trail of renowned chefs have made their way to the Caribbean to take charge of restaurants in the luxury resorts. The real joy, however, is discovering those unannounced roadside stalls and beach bars where the food combines with the surroundings to deliver the perfect experience.
Dine like a local
Slow-cooked Pepperpot stew with plenty of spice and heavy dumplings are responsible for the healthy condition of most Antiguans. Local Wadadli beer is one of the region’s unsung heroes.
Where to go
Plenty of good roadside shacks and beach bars, with gourmet dining at the five-star hotels, many winning rave reviews in the travel magazines. Don’t miss the Fish and Chip double decker bus in Jolly Harbour.
