Overview
Still waiting for a planned luxury hotel, the Dutch side of the island is mainly timeshare resorts, but the all-inclusive Sonesta Maho and Sonesta Great Bay are the main resorts, with the Westin on Dawn Beach a relatively recent arrival. Most of the hotels are near the airport, with not much going on in the capital Philipsburg.

Lots of free nights on offer over summer at Sonesta, where guests can also use the amenities for the day of the sister hotel. Rates and occupancy go up over the busy Christmas period and during the Heineken Regatta in March.
