How to Get Around in The Cayman Islands

Rental agencies and taxis are plentiful at the Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM). Car rental agencies require a driving permit, costing US$7.50 and valid for 6 months. Most agencies are located around the airport terminal on Grand Cayman.

The Cayman bus service is restricted to eight routes, with 38 buses, and is the most popular choice for commuting locals.

Since most visitors to the Caymans are heading between the port/airport and the resorts, taxis are the best alternative, easy to find around Seven Mile Beach, the airports and the hotels.

The flat, sparsely populated islands are one of the few places where rental bikes are feasible, and are particularly popular on the smaller of the three Caymans Islands where there is no public transportation system.
