CTO Appoints Narendra Ramgulam as New Sustainable Tourism Consultant

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has announced the appointment of Trinidad and Tobago native Narendra Ramgulam as its new Sustainable Tourism Consultant. Ramgulam brings extensive experience in sustainable tourism, and his appointment aligns with CTO’s mission to advance sustainability in the Caribbean tourism sector.

Ramgulam’s Experience and Vision

Ramgulam previously served as Director of Tourism Product Development & Destination Management at the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited. During his tenure, he led several sustainability initiatives and received prestigious awards, bolstering Tobago’s reputation for safe tourism practices, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ramgulam has also worked as a Postgraduate Coordinator and Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, where he focused on sustainable tourism, tourism anthropology, and economic diversification. His contributions include 13 publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation in numerous tourism conferences.

Continuing CTO’s Sustainability Initiatives

Ramgulam succeeds Amanda Charles, who spearheaded CTO’s sustainable tourism initiatives for eight years. CTO Secretary-General & CEO Dona Regis-Prosper expressed gratitude for Charles’s contributions and highlighted Ramgulam’s expertise as essential to further advancing the region’s sustainability goals.

“With Narendra’s proven track record and extensive knowledge, we are confident that he will significantly contribute to advancing sustainable tourism practices across the Caribbean,” said Regis-Prosper.
